How we teach

A small-group method where children learn Spanish through play, conversation, and real connection.

THE IDEA
Why we call it Andamio

Andamio is Spanish for scaffolding: the temporary support that helps a child reach what they can't quite reach on their own. Our job isn't only to explain Spanish to children. It's to build the conditions that let them try, use, and eventually take the language into their own hands.

In every class, we all become scaffolding for one another. The teacher, the materials, the children in the group: each one holding a small part of what makes learning possible. It's what turns a class into a community, and a language into something a child can grow inside.

THE CLASSROOM
Inside a class

Every class begins in Spanish and stays in Spanish. Beyond that, no two classes look the same.

Younger children (5-9)

Classes move through short segments (a greeting, a story, a game, a closing), filled with songs, movement, and characters that carry the vocabulary. What happens inside those moments shifts from group to group, because the children themselves shape the class.

Older children (10-14)

Classes gather around a theme: a place, a moment, an idea. There's room for conversation, reading, small creative tasks. Grammar arrives when it's useful, not before.

What stays constant is the tone: warm, patient, playful, never rushed. What changes is what the children need that day, and we listen for that.

THE PATH
Materials and progression

Every group works with materials designed for their age and level. At the end of each week, families receive the materials from that week's classes: songs, stories, vocabulary, and small activities to revisit at home if they want.

Our curriculum is grounded in international frameworks, adapted for children who learn best through play, conversation, and story. We use those frameworks as our foundation, not as a script. Each cohort's path is designed for them.

Growth, without exams

Children at Andamio Club aren't tested. Growth is noticed differently: in how a child speaks, plays, contributes, and slowly grows more confident, week by week.

A brief written note on each child's progress and what we've worked on together.
